Bargain and sale by William Ashewell, citizen and grocer of London, son and heir of William Ashewell, late of Dunstable in the county of Bedford, gentleman, deceased, to Ferdinand Ashewell, citizen and merchant tailor of London, natural brother of the said William, of a messuage with its appurtenances, buildings, barns, stables, etc., lying in the West Streete of Dunstable aforesaid, between a croft late of Joane Tyrplady, widow, on the east, and the court and grounds of Richard Brigge belonging to the messuage called the Leaden Porche on the west, and abutting upon Ickwell Streete toward the south and upon the garden, now or late of Thomas Hammerell, toward the north and now in the occupation of Alice Ashewell, widow, and all the rents, etc., save only an annuity of 40s. out of the premises for the poor of Dunstable. Given on 13 April, 12 James [I]. Endorsed with a note of enrollment on the dorse of the Close Roll of the same year and signed under the front fold "in cancellaria mairo" by Johannes Amye.
